Speaker line-up

This year's speaker line-up included photographers and filmmakers; best in their field. Specialising in everything from social engagement to photography business, long exposure to macro, they shared their expertise with visitors throughout the four days.

Alys Tomlinson

Born in Brighton, Alys studied English Literature and Communications at the University of Leeds and then photography at Central Saint Martins. She recently completed an MA (Distinction) in Anthropology at SOAS, University of London. Alys is most interested in the relationship between people and place, exploring themes of environment, belonging and identity. She lives in London and combines commissioned work for editorial, design and advertising clients with personal work, which she publishes and exhibits.

Alys’ most recent body of work ‘Ex-Voto’ explores Christian pilgrimage sites in Europe. ‘Ex-Voto’ will be published as a book by GOST in Spring 2019.

Alys was named Sony World Photographer of the Year 2018.

Other awards and exhibitions include: Royal Photographic Society IPE161 (Silver Award), Sony World Photography Awards, 1st Prize (Discovery Category), Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize (National Portrait Gallery), BJP/International Photography Award Shortlist, Renaissance Photography Prize (Finalist), Hotshoe Award/Renaissance Photography Prize Winner, Magenta Foundation Flash Forward and PDN 30.
