Jamie Smart
Jamie began taking photographs at six-and-a-half years old. One day, while they were out on a nature walk, Dad (James Smart) offered her his Nikon camera, and she took to it like a duck to water. Her natural hand-eye coordination and love for birds have produced some amazing images for someone her age.
“I love going out and exploring nature reserves and common land all over the country, trying to see magnificent scenery and nature at its best - out in the wild,” says Jamie, “although this does take a lot of patience, which I’m working on!”
She still has a long list of birds and wildlife she intends to capture through the lens, which may take a lifetime to achieve, but in doing so she will have wonderful times and deepen her love of nature. Jamie has been successful in a number of competitions (often against entrants much older than she is) and is always on the lookout for the next goal. She hopes that her images will help others see the beauty of nature and the planet around us, while also promoting awareness of what we, as apex predators, need to do to conserve what is here today so that it can still be here tomorrow and forevermore.
