Horse Portrait Photographer, Judge & Mentor

Emma Campbell is a UK-based horse portrait photographer, judge and mentor.
In 2020, Emma was awarded Master Craftsman status by The Guild of Photographers for Equine Photography and, in the same year, won both Equine Image of the Year and Overall Image of the Year (Judges’ Choice).
Emma went on to complete judge training under the guidance of Lesley Thirsk, Director of The Guild of Photographers, and now sits on the Association’s panel as a judge and mentor. In 2024, she gained an ILM Mentoring qualification with the British School of Coaching and holds a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science and Business.
She has judged The British Photography Awards, taken part in live print judging at ClickMasters, and is part of the judging team for the 2025 UK Photography Print Awards.
A strong advocate for mentoring and continued learning, Emma believes it was through joining The Guild of Photographers and working with a mentor that she was truly able to develop her craft and career. Now, as a judge and mentor herself, she feels privileged to support other photographers on their developing journey.
Alongside her judging and mentoring, Emma specialises in equine portrait photography, capturing her clients’ unique relationships with their horses in surroundings that are meaningful to them.
Her work has been exhibited at the Design Museum, London, and published in numerous equestrian, photography and regional lifestyle magazines.
