Brian is a documentary and street photographer. His style is observational and quirky - he's more interested in human behaviour than in random people walking through streaks of light. He's currently working on a wide variety of documentary photography projects.

He founded and still runs StreetSnappers, a London-based street photography hub. Wearing a different hat, he shoots editorial portraits for newspapers and magazines worldwide and he's also a partner in a commercial photography business, shooting for corporate annual reports, advertising campaigns and other marketing collateral. But his real passion has always been street photography.

His interest in photography started at school where he had access to a darkroom, the encouragement of a great art teacher (thank you, Mr Freear) and a firm belief that ‘the guy with the camera’ would be more attractive to girls (sadly, he was wrong). His first published newspaper picture, at the age of 14, was of a dead dog in a litter bin.

He runs documentary and street photography workshops around the UK and in European cities such as Lisbon, Prague, Venice and Paris – with other cities to follow. He leads workshops for small groups and also runs one-to-one workshops and mentoring programmes. He teaches as a visiting lecturer on photography degree courses and he's a lecturer and judge at camera clubs across the UK.
