Despite the growing visibility of women in creative industries, wildlife photography and filmmaking remain largely male-dominated. In this candid and empowering session, photographer and filmmaker Roxy Hemadani is joined by photographer Lara Jackson and cinematographer Sophie Darlington ASC, to pull back the curtain on what it really means to navigate this field as women, from being taken seriously in the industry, to negotiating fairly, staying safe on remote shoots, and even managing menstruation in the wilderness. Lara and Sophie will also speak to the unique challenges and triumphs of balancing motherhood with life behind the lens. Together, they’ll share hard-earned lessons, practical advice, and stories from the field, offering insight not just for women looking to enter wildlife photography, but for the industry at large on how to support and elevate female voices in this space. This is a call for change, a celebration of resilience, and a platform for powerful stories that deserve to be told.
