Preserving the unarchived: Imprinting lives of care and community
Aneesa will consider how lives shaped by care and collective experience are recorded, and what happens when they are not. In this talk, the artist reflects on her work with communities often left outside official archives, from public service workers and elders, to cultural celebrations and moments of political witness. Grounded in long-term relationships and ethical collaboration, Aneesa's practice centres trust, dignity, and shared authorship. Print is approached not simply as a photographic outcome, but as an act of care in itself; a way of slowing down, honouring the people in her world, and creating tangible records that can be held, shared, and passed on. Through this material process, personal and communal histories are given space to exist beyond the moment, ensuring they are not lost to time.
