Inspired by his latest project 'The Silence After Applause, exhibited at World EXPO, Canon Ambassador Clive Booth challenges you to shoot an elite dancer's portrait in just 30 seconds, then create a fine art archival print. Clive will share the story behind his latest project 'The Silence After Applause' shooting the portraits of Birmingham Royal Ballet's (BRB) elite dancers in the first few seconds as they come off stage. His work highlighting BRB's world first research into its artists mental and physical wellbeing. What began as a passion project culminated in Clive representing the UK and exhibiting his work at World EXPO in Osaka, Japan 2025.

In a unique collaboration with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Canon, Hahnemühle and EIZO, Clive's workshop will challenge photographers to shoot the portraits of BRB's elite dancers, as he does, a handful of frames in just thirty seconds using one camera, one lens and one light (Canon EOS R5 MKII, EOS RF 50mm F1.2 L USM prime lens and one 2x1 LED light with soft box and grid).

Portrait shoot complete, Clive will take photographers on a simple step by step journey from capture to fine art archival print. Collectively editing the RAW files in Adobe Lightroom sharing tips and insights into his edit and postproduction process. Breaking down his colour managed workflow, Clive will discuss the importance of monitor calibration using EIZO's latest CG3100x. Preparing files for print and exporting to Canon Professional Print and Layout software, paper choice, the use of ICC profiles and soft proofing on screen prior to finally printer preparation, making fine art archival prints and viewing them under balanced viewing lights, certain that what is seen on paper matches what is seen on screen. As a Hahnemühle, Gold Certified Studio, Clive will be sharing his passion for printing on Hahnemühle, fine art archival papers in particularly the Natural Line sustainable papers he used for his exhibition at World EXPO. Photographers will have a choice of using one of three of his favourites. Clive will also explain Hahnemühle's, unique certificate of authenticity making certain that when a customer buys a photographers work they know it's fully authenticated.

To make their prints, Photographers will have a choice of one of three 12 colour Canon image PROGRAF PRO fine art archival printers using LUCIA PRO II archival ink (imagePROGRAF PRO-310, 1100 and 2600). Canon holds the unique position of being the only imaging company in the world to make both cameras and fine art archival printers and Clive's workshop offers the opportunity to experience the full Canon capture to print workflow and these technologies first hand. Clive says, 'I believe print is still the finest way for a photographer to share their work, giving us complete control of how our work is seen. There is something beautifully tactile about ink on paper and having a piece of work you can hold in your hand. Print is emotive, it evokes feelings, with the right framing is archival for 200 years and offers us a potential and valuable additional income stream.' Questions and discussions are encouraged throughout the workshop in addition to a Q and A wrap up where Clive will also be sharing where photographers can find out more about his one-to-one mentoring programme, plus more future Canon capture to print workshops.'
